a little more productive today

My big backyard tree is finally starting to change colors and drop its leaves. It's always the last tree in the neighborhood.

Still a bit of a low-key life, but I did get some puttering done today. I tested out a new scanner which I had picked up last Sunday. It’s been sliding around in the back of the car all week! Finally got it unpacked and tested to see if I wanted to keep it. It’s not bad. It’s definitely not meant to be a fine art print scanner, it’s one of those all-in-one printer/scanner/copymachine/fax type deals. But it did alright for a $200 machine vs. a $2000 machine. So I’m going to keep it. I can still use the camera if I need to but this will be much faster without all the fussy set-up.

I’ve been thinking a little bit about meal plans and diet and all that. What I’ve decided…coming upon the whole holiday season…is to just chill about it. After nearly a year, I am not any better at consistently cooking. I go for a couple weeks or so and then super easily fall back into bad habits. I’ve decided maybe the first order of business is to establish better habits and then worry more about weight loss. So I’m going to work on the whole Eat Home Cooked Food plan. This means I’m not going to be overly concerned about gluten or dairy or sugar, although I will be mindful and keep it in check. But the important thing is to eat food I want to cook and cook food I want to eat. Once I get that good habit in place, I can get a bit stricter about what food I am cooking, if this all makes sense. One step at a time.

So that’s the plan to finish out the year. I’ve got the pre-prepped dinners coming Thursday next week, which will be a good jumpstart. I’m just realizing I think a food journal will be a good habit too. I haven’t been doing that for awhile. Back at it! :-)
